A’Takamul International School (ATIS; www.atakamul.edu.kw) is a K-12 school founded in 1995 by dedicated Kuwaiti educators and investors. Initially, the school was located in Hawally, Kuwait. In 1997, ATIS became part of the Institute of Private Education and moved to Rumaithiya. During that time, the school grew from a modest 149 students to more than 700 students. To meet the demands of its increasing student population, ATIS moved in 2003 to a new campus in Sabah Al Salem. Currently, the campus houses around 2000 students. The school’s ideal is embedded in its name. The Arabic word A’Takamul means Integration. This, along with a deep-rooted tradition of seeking the best teaching standards for its students, are the main drivers of the school. ATIS sought accreditation to ensure that its students receive a quality education recognized and accepted internationally. The entire K-12 school program was accredited in March 2002 by North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. ATIS integrates the American teaching system into the Kuwaiti culture and standards, offering effective, dynamic, and productive ways of teaching. ATIS classes are grouped into three main divisions: Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle and High schools, covering KG1 to Grade 12 classes. Guided by the school’s management and teaching objectives, the school’s divisions make sure to offer the best to their students. A bit on the technical side, each division would tailor certain processes to fit its specific requirements, such as the teaching curriculum, student registration process, course timetables, and tuition fees, among others. ATIS also makes sure to involve the school’s management, teachers, staff, students, and parents, and to enhance and foster interaction and communication among the groups. The effective way to accomplish this is to provide a smooth and friendly software platform for those users, helping them to stay connected and to do their tasks easily. It is our pleasure that, after a thorough process of evaluating the school management and student information software systems in the market, ATIS chose to implement Skoolee. Then, the two teams from ATIS and WMT went through a systematic process of needs assessment, implementation planning, deployment, and user training, making good use of their time and guiding the project on track. It covered all aspects of the school’s integrated American system, from KG to Primary and Middle School & High schools. The end-result is a Skoolee implementation at ATIS, successful by all means and up to the expectations and satisfaction of both parties.
